Join the City of Madison this week, May 17–23, as we celebrate National Public Works Week!
In every community, Public Works can mean something a little different. In Madison, it includes everything from parks and streets to sanitation and our water, gas, and sewer utilities. We’re grateful for the dedication of these teams working above and below ground, during the day and after hours, to keep our community operating safely, efficiently, and effectively every day.
This year’s theme, “Rooted in Service, Powered by Community,” recognizes the deep commitment and dedication that drive public works professionals every day. It reflects the essential role public works plays in helping communities grow, improve, and remain places where people can live with purpose and opportunity.
Some contributions, like maintaining landscape and sidewalks, are easy to see, while others, such as maintaining water, gas, and sewer systems, often happen behind the scenes. Together, these efforts, along with countless others, create the foundation of strong, thriving communities and highlight the vital connection between public service and the people it supports.
