🚨 Portland Man Arrested After Shooting at Police Officers

On January 26, 2026, 41-year-old Eric Floyd Oelkers of Oregon was arrested for shooting at two Portland Police Bureau officers on January 19, 2026, during a call involving a suspect threatening a stranger with a knife.

Oelkers fired at officers and fled, sparking a weeklong manhunt.

He’s now booked on attempted first-degree murder charges.

One officer has already been released from the hospital, and the second was scheduled for release on the day of Oelkers’ arrest.

🔸Oelkers has a criminal history spanning over 20 years, including:

2020 Oregon Capitol Riot: convicted of a bias crime and criminal mischief for vandalizing a Salem business

Previous convictions: robbery, menacing, felon in possession of a firearm

2019: nationwide search by U.S. Marshals for federal probation violation related to prior gun crime

2022: facing charges for an alleged bank robbery

A violent, repeat offender caught after putting law enforcement in danger.

Fire Management on the Ochoco National Forest and Crooked River National Grassland will be burning about 79 acres of juniper jackpots on Tuesday January 27th. This unit is located off Lone Pine road near Skull Hollow campground. The black smoke column will be visible from Prineville, Powell Butte, Lone Pine Valley and the Highway 26 corridor.
