Today, we honor and celebrate Juneteenth, a day that marks the end of slavery in the United States and commemorates freedom, resilience, and hope.

Juneteenth reminds us of the importance of remembering our history, celebrating progress, and continuing to work toward unity, equality, and opportunity for all.

As we reflect on the sacrifices and achievements of those who came before us, let us also recognize the strength, culture, and contributions that continue to shape our communities today.

Happy Juneteenth from the Marion Recreation Department. May this day inspire reflection, education, and celebration as we honor the enduring spirit of freedom. ♥️💚🖤

💙🚔 Thank You, Camp B.L.U.E. Family! 🚔💙

The Marion Recreation Department and Marion Police Department is proud to celebrate the successful completion of the 3rd Annual Camp B.L.U.E.! As we wrap up another incredible year, we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who helped make this camp a memorable experience for our youth.

First and foremost, thank you to all of our campers and their families for participating and making this week so special.

A special thank you to Officer Davis, Officer Hurley, and recreation director Chasity Samuels for their dedication, support, and positive engagement with our campers throughout the week. Your commitment to building relationships with our youth is truly appreciated.

Thank you to Officer Jones and Officer Williamson for assisting with transportation and providing the exciting patrol car rides that brought so much joy to our campers.

We would also like to express our gratitude to Officer Johnson and K9 Lucy for providing an informative and engaging Drug Unit presentation. Our campers enjoyed learning about the important work performed by our law enforcement officers and K9 partners.

A sincere thank you to Samantha Hood from the P*e Dee Coalition for presenting valuable information on child safety and the Child Help program. Your presentation provided important knowledge that our campers can carry with them beyond camp.

A special thank you to our dedicated volunteers, Tamia White and Timeria Davis, for generously giving their time, energy, and support throughout camp. Your willingness to serve and connect with our campers helped make this week even more successful.

We would also like to thank Marcus Robinson, founder of B.O.O.S.T., and Khadijah Roberts for spending time with our campers and providing positive interaction, encouragement, and mentorship. Your presence made a meaningful impact on the youth we serve.

Thank you to the Performing Arts and Science Academy for generously providing breakfast and lunch for our participants throughout the week. Your support helped keep our campers energized and ready for each day’s activities.

A special thank you to Captain Marilyn Rogers for treating our campers to Pizza Hut on Fun Day. The pizza was a huge hit and helped make the day even more memorable for everyone involved.

Camp B.L.U.E. continues to be a shining example of what can happen when community organizations, law enforcement, volunteers, educators, mentors, and families come together to invest in our youth. Thank you all for helping us build positive relationships, create meaningful experiences, and make lasting memories.

💙 Thank you for making the 3rd Annual Camp B.L.U.E. a tremendous success! We look forward to seeing everyone again next year! 💙
