The next Library Board of Trustees meeting will be here in Markle! Join us Wednesday, May 20 at 5:15 p.m. to give us your feedback on library service.

In the meantime, we have a new update from the director following last week's Board meeting.

Over the last few weeks we have heard from many people about the Markle Branch Library and we have had many conversations with Library staff and the Library Board of Trustees.

Our next Library Board meeting, on May 20 at 5:15 p.m., will be held at the Markle Branch Library.

Following the Board meeting on April 15, we've posted an update from our director on the library's website: https://www.huntingtonpub.lib.in.us/news/april-board-update-markle-branch-library/

Thank you to everyone who has expressed concern over the future of our library.

We've posted an update. Visit our website to read a message from our director, see meeting minutes or listen to a recording of the most recent Board meeting.

It has come to our attention that there is a great deal of concern over the future of the Markle Branch Library. We are happily overwhelmed with the amount of feedback that we have seen from Markle residents who support their library.

At this time we are *not* recommending the closure of the Markle Branch Library.

Read a message from our director on potential service changes to the Markle Branch Library, as well as general library funding updates, here: https://www.huntingtonpub.lib.in.us/news/status-update-markle-branch-library/

So…the burning question: now that Baker & Taylor, longstanding book wholesaler to libraries across the globe since 1828, has unexpectedly shut down their operations, what does that mean for us at Huntington City-Township Public Library?

While Baker & Taylor was an essential partner in getting the newest and most popular publications to library shelves as quickly and cost-efficiently as possible, we have been pursuing other options. Several weeks before the B&T closure, HCTPL began onboarding with Ingram, another wholesaler that works closely with libraries. We have worked with Ingram in the past so since we are not onboarding as a brand-new client, the transition is going more smoothly than it might have otherwise.

Like many other libraries across the nation, we are actively working through this transition and you should notice minimal interruptions in library services. We are still adding newer titles to the collection which have been backordered, and you may notice some temporary delays with new releases or requested titles, but your library staff remains committed to excellent service.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. Your support is much appreciated. If you have any questions, feel free to ask a staff member. We’re here to help.
