Turning blight into progress.
The City of Memphis Community Enhancement Division is taking action against blight across every City Council district. Since August, crews have demolished 86 severely deteriorated and unsafe homes, with more work underway.
The impact goes beyond demolition. Removing these properties helps create safer streets, safer paths for children and new opportunities for neighborhoods to move forward.
We are working toward stronger, safer communities in every corner of Memphis.

Across Memphis, progress is showing up in our neighborhoods through cleaner communities, a continued focus on public safety, and more opportunities for young people. Here’s a look at some of the numbers behind the work in 2026:

• 50,850 code enforcement violations written for overgrown grass, weeds and lots since 2024
• 551 average blighted properties addressed per month in 2026, compared with 422 in 2025
• 10,000 fewer crimes in Memphis in 2026
• 3,000 young people employed through MPLOY this summer

These numbers represent work happening block by block, neighborhood by neighborhood.

Tay Keith’s family is helping ensure his legacy continues to inspire the next generation of Memphis creators. 🎶
Thanks to a generous donation from the Tay Keith Legacy Foundation, Memphis Public Libraries has renamed Cloud901’s music production room the Tay Keith Music Lab.
This supports the larger Tay Keith Legacy Initiative, which will introduce young people to beat making and music production while preserving Tay Keith’s life and contributions through a permanent archival collection and the library’s 901Voices oral history project.
Located inside the Benjamin L. Hooks Central Library, Cloud901 provides Memphis teens ages 13–18 with free access to technology, training and creative opportunities.
Through his family’s contribution, Tay Keith’s story will be preserved—and the sound of Memphis will keep moving forward.

Speed humps in Memphis neighborhoods don’t just appear overnight. They’re part of a request-based traffic-calming program managed by the City of Memphis Engineering.

If speeding is a concern on your street, residents can submit a request through Memphis 311. Our engineers will evaluate the location to determine whether it meets the program’s criteria.

And yes, City engineers really do know everything 😉

Due to the extreme weather, the Hub’s Cooling Center for the unhoused community will be in operation.
⏰ Opening Hours: Wednesday, 09/16 from 4:00 - 6:00pm.
📍 Location: Hospitality Hub, 590 Washington Ave, Memphis, TN 38105
🚐 Transportation: Transportation will be provided by MATA; requests can be made by calling 901-486-0939 during Cooling Center hours.
🍽️ Services: The Hub's regular services will be limited during the Cooling Center. Sack meals will be provided while supplies last.
❤️ Who: All are welcome. Guests will need to check in upon arrival, but IDs are not required. We strive to provide a safe, kind, and respectful environment for all.
