Elect Chad Smith for Covington TN Mayor

09/23/2026

I’m proud to be endorsed for the Covington Mayor’s race by Tipton County Executive Billy Daugherty:

"I’ve known Chad Smith since we were teenagers. His family has been rooted in this community's public service for years, and he carries that same dedication.

As a fellow public servant, I know firsthand that collaborative leadership between our city and county governments is vital. Chad has the vision, the skills, and the financial acumen necessary to responsibly steward the taxpayers' checkbook.

I am incredibly excited about the potential to partner with him to build a stronger future for our entire community."

It was a great morning to attend the ribbon cutting for the new Covington Post Acute center - welcome! I expect this business will supply a much needed service to Covington residents, and it’s a great looking facility.
Learning about our community businesses is crucial to their success, you can’t learn if you don’t reach out and connect! Showing up matters, and I’m ready to show up for each of you.

I am proud to have the support of Mary Gaither:

“I have known Chad Smith for a long time. He is very professional and has the ability to move our city in the right direction. I have spoken with him on many occasions and I believe he will work with other officials, locally and statewide to ensure our city provides the needs for the departments and quality of life for our citizens. He values relationship building and really listens to others and builds them up. He strongly supports law enforcement and our fire department. Chad Smith is going to be a great leader for Covington.”

May we never forget.

Covington hosted the 25th anniversary remembrance service this morning for September 11. “Thank you” is simply not enough - for the first responders and veterans that preserve our freedom every single day. For the communities that come together to honor them. For the people who strive to honor the United States and what she stands for daily.

Here is a video of a helicopter in action at our airport, carrying some of the Boys & Girls Club of the Hatchie River Region (Covington) summer camp kids - it was great to watch their excitement grow.
In my last post, I talked about how our Covington airport is a wonderful resource and asset. We have a tremendous amount of potential for Covingtons bright future.
