The inaugural Baby Cafe' at the Rosedale Library was a joyful celebration of motherhood, babies and breastfeeding! The HER Institute's Baby Café is a breastfeeding support group for moms to share experiences and get technical support from lactation consultants. The Baby Café meets monthly on the 3rd Thursday of the month in the meeting room at the Rosedale Library. The next group is scheduled for Thursday, September 17, from 12-2pm, at the Rosedale Library. https://shorturl.at/CaBpI

🐈-Furry Reminder: The Jefferson Parish Library offers 24/7 access to Pet Microchip Scanners at seven (7) of our library branches on the East and West Bank. In partnership with Jefferson Protection & Animal Welfare Services and the Jefferson SPCA , the Pet Microchip Scanners, (located outside of the library branches), can help scan a lost pet anytime day or night and reunite them with their owner. See video. The following library branches offer Pet Microchip Scanners (more locations to be added):

🏁🔧The Pit Crew Craft Station: Build-A-Mini-Racer Workshop
Before the show begins, young racers can make a pit stop at our craft station to design and build their very own mini cardboard race car! Using simple materials and plenty of imagination, kids will create a custom ride to take home.

This hands-on workshop is the perfect way to get revved up for the movie—no experience needed, just creativity and a love of all things that go vroom! ✨

🧜🏻 - Our Mermaids & Pirates Party to celebrate the end of the Summer Reading Challenge was a fish net full of fun with merfolk filling the room at the West Bank Regional Library!

🧜🏽‍♀️ - The Mardi Gras Krewe of dancing mermaids, The Sirens of New Orleans, came to the underwater extravaganza and assisted patrons playing games, coloring mermaids and learning to spell their names in sign language! Summer Reading was a splash!

British author Enid Blyton was born on this day, August 11, in 1897 in East Dulwich, London. From 1922 until her death in 1968, she wrote more than 700 books for children. Her stories sold more than 600 million copies in translations that spanned the globe. Blyton holds the distinction of being the world’s fourth-most translated author. She wrote on a wide range of topics, including education, natural history, fantasy, mystery, and biblical narratives. She is best remembered for her multiple series based upon characters and groups such as Noddy, The Famous Five, Secret Seven, The Five Find-Outers, and Malory Towers. ❤️- Today, the American Heart Association and Jefferson Parish Library launched the "Libraries with Heart" Program to expand access to blood pressure monitoring at all Jefferson Parish Libraries.

💝- The Ribbon Cutting Launch Event at the East Bank Regional Library was to introduce Free Blood Pressure Kiosks and Take-Home Blood Pressure Monitor Kits available at all Jefferson Parish Libraries.

🩺- The program allows residents to check their blood pressure at self-service kiosks located in libraries and borrow take-home blood pressure monitor kits through the library's "Library of Things"
collection.
