Join us for the next Conservation Workshop on Sunday, June 14th!

Shley Suarez-Burgos is a certified Oyster Specialist with the Oyster Master Guild and an Oyster Sommelier with The Lazy Oyster. In this conservation workshop we will go over the South Florida history, ecology, and merroir of oysters while incorporating recycled shells in an artistic practice. This is open to all ages.

Happy World Environment Day 🌎

At Deering Estate, you can help monitor changing water levels through the AquaWatch community science project overlooking the Chinese Bridge in Cutler Creek.

Here is how it works:

1️⃣ Scan the QR code on signage at the Chinese Bridge
2️⃣ Check the water level on the monitoring gauge at the west side of the bridge
3️⃣ Fill out the quick survey
4️⃣ Have a great day knowing you helped collect real environmental data!

AquaWatch helps raise awareness about sea level rise, storm flooding, and the impacts of climate change on our waterways. Every observation makes a difference.

The Deering Estate’s engaging Artist-in-Residence (AIR) program has launched the application for the 2027 season. A call to artists is currently available for visual, literary, performing, and cross-disciplinary arts and artists are invited to apply before the August 31, 2026, 11:59 pm EST deadline. The application is for studio residencies and non-studio project residencies at the Deering Estate, beginning as early as January 1, 2027.

About the Artist-in-Residence (AIR) Program
The Deering Estate Artist-in-Residence (AIR)Program seeks to continue the legacy of art patronage by supporting artists who work in various disciplines and media, consistent with founder Charles Deering’s vision.

The Deering Estate Artist-in-Residence Program (AIR) supports artists across visual, literary, performing, and cross-disciplinary arts. The program offers opportunities for emerging and mid-career artists willing to explore new bodies of work or practices to create, collaborate, and engage with the Estate’s rich historic, cultural, and natural environment. Established in 2006, The AIR program has hosted over 150 residencies that span a diverse range of contemporary and traditional practices and continues to foster creativity, collaboration, and community engagement in a unique setting.
