Staff from the Village Department of Public Services will resume storm cleanup throughout the Village starting on Tuesday. Remaining trees in the right of way (between the sidewalk & road) will be addressed by DPS staff or our forestry contractor.

Residents with small branches (about the diameter of your arm or smaller) in your yard may drag them to the curb and our crews will pick them up as time permits, starting Tuesday. Please have items at the curb no later than Tuesday morning (September 8th). If you have larger limbs or trees down on private property, you will need to contact a private contractor for removal.

Small branches, leaves, and other debris should be disposed of via curbside yard waste collection. As a reminder, curbside collection is delayed due to the holiday and will occur on Wednesday, September 9th.

Update from DTE on estimated restoration of power.

We know that power outages disrupt our customers' lives and we don't take that lightly. DTE's Storm Response Team worked through the night to restore power to more than 75,000 customers hit by Wednesday night's and Thursday evening's severe weather. In total, 145,000 customers have had their power restored as of early Friday morning.

More than 3,700 crew members, including lineworkers from out of state, are on the job and an additional 300 lineman will arrive later today. We expect 65% of customers affected by Wednesday's and Thursday's storms to have power back today, and 90% by Saturday.

Please put safety first. Stay at least 25 feet away from downed power lines and anything touching them. If you're using a generator, keep it outside and away from your home, garage and windows.

If your power is out, please report it at outage.dteenergy.com so we can send you updates on when it will be restored.

STORM UPDATE (5:30 p.m. on 9/3):
Pretty much all of the Village is without power currently and there are a number of downed power lines in the area. Report all downed lines by calling 9-1-1. Do NOT approach downed lines or fences, trees, etc. that may be touching downed lines - stay 25 feet away from lines. DTE Energy has crews in the Village working on identifying issues and making repairs.

Staff from the Department of Public Services is out checking for downed trees and clearing them from roadways, clearing drains of storm debris, and checking water and wastewater infrastructure. The focus this evening (9/3) is on clearing roads, so a lot of debris will still be on the ground overnight and staff will starting hauling it away tomorrow (9/4) as conditions permit.

Our Department of Public Services is flushing hydrants to test water pressure throughout the Village this week, which may lead to cloudy water. If this happens, running your cold water for a minute or so will will clear it up.
