Introducing our new series, "Why Recreation Matters." πŸ’™

This summer, Milford Parks & Recreation intern and Milford native Jacob Welch, will be sitting down with the people behind the department to share what recreation means to them and why it plays such an important role in our community.

Having grown up through Milford Parks & Recreation programs himself, Jacob is excited to help tell the stories of the staff, volunteers, and community members who make this department so special.

As Milford continues to grow, so does the importance of creating spaces and opportunities that bring people together. From parks and programs to friendships and memories, recreation is about much more than what happens on the surface.

Recreation isn't just about sports and activities, It's about Community.

Stay tuned as new episodes are released throughout the week! πŸŽ₯

Happy National Smile Power Day! πŸ˜„πŸ’™

Today, we're celebrating the smiles that have been shared throughout the years at Milford Parks & Recreation.

From camps and sports programs to community events and everything in between, these moments remind us that recreation is about much more than activities, it's about creating memories and bringing people together.

This is a reminder that whether we're winning or losing in life or sports, it's the smiles, memories, and time spent together that matter most.

Enjoy this collection of smiles from throughout the years at Milford Parks & Recreation, along with a few moments shared with our friends at Kent County Parks and Rec. πŸ’™

Keep smiling, Milford! πŸ˜„

Employee Appreciation Day πŸ’™

Once a year, the City of Milford comes together to celebrate and recognize the hardworking and dedicated employees who help make our community a better place.

This year's Employee Appreciation Day was filled with great food, fun, and plenty of memories. Employees enjoyed delicious catering and outstanding service from Messy's BBQ Shack & DJ Services, refreshing Italian ice from Rita's Ice Arabia, and sweet treats from Hopkins Farm Creamery. Add in some friendly but competitive volleyball games, good music, plenty of games, and lots of time spent socializing with coworkers. It made for a wonderful afternoon together.

Most importantly, this special day is about honoring and giving back to the employees whose dedication and commitment make a difference in Milford every single day. Their hard work often happens behind the scenes, but the impact they have on our community is seen and felt throughout the city.

Thank you to all of our City of Milford employees for everything you do. Your efforts do not go unnoticed, and we are grateful for your continued service to our community. πŸ’™

In honor of National Making Life Beautiful Day, please join Milford Parks & Recreation in reflecting on what makes life beautiful.

For us, it's having the opportunity to serve and give back to the Milford community. Waking up each day with a sense of purpose and a goal of making this place we all call home a little better.

Today, we would also like to recognize our dedicated Park Staff, whose hard work and commitment help keep Milford beautiful each and every day. From maintaining our parks and facilities to creating spaces our community can take pride in, their efforts play a major role in making Milford the beautiful place we all know and love.

This is a reminder that it's not just us, but you, who make Milford what it is. After all, it's the people and community around us that make life beautiful.

Take a moment today to thank those who make your life beautiful. πŸ’™
