FIREWORKS PROHIBITED

Fireworks season is here. For the safety of the community we want to remind everyone of the laws as they pertain to the Town of Milliken.

Milliken municipal code:

Sec. 10-10-10. - Fireworks prohibited.

Except as provided in Sections 24-33.5-2003, 24-33.5-2004 and 24-33.5-2006, C.R.S., it is unlawful in the Town for any person to offer for sale, expose for sale, sell or have in his or her possession with intent to offer for sale, sell, use or explode, any fireworks that are not within the definition of "permissible fireworks" in section 24-33.5-2001, C.R.S., as it may from time to time be amended.

Sec. 10-10-70. - Seizure of fireworks.

The Police Department may, for preservation of evidence or for destruction, seize, take and remove, at the expense of the owner, all stocks of fireworks or combustibles offered or exposed for sale, stored or held in violation of this Article.

There will be zero tolerance. Those in violation will be cited and any illegal fireworks will be confiscated. Municipal Court fines can be up to $2,650.00

Don’t risk injury, fire, or criminal charges. Leave the fireworks up to the professionals. Please do not hesitate to call the Milliken Police Department if you have questions regarding fireworks (970) 587-2772.
