Just another day in HS Physics 🏎️⚡️

In Mr. Mohammad’s class, scholars recently put engineering, problem-solving and a little friendly competition to the test by designing and racing their own chariots!

Built from popsicle sticks, cardboard, tape, glue and old CDs for wheels, each chariot had to be designed to stay balanced, hold together and, most importantly, MOVE. Scholars tested different designs, made adjustments, and then learned how to program a Sphero, an app-enabled robotic ball used to bring coding and STEM concepts to life.

Then they raced. 👀🏆

And that’s one of our favorite things about learning at MAS. This wasn’t a special event or a one-time opportunity. This was simply another day in class, where scholars get to build, test, problem-solve, compete, laugh and learn by doing.

🥾MAS Class of 2027 spent time at Camp Manito-Wish this week taking on team challenges, hiking, rock climbing, tackling ropes courses, gathering around the campfire, playing kickball, testing their courage on the giant tree swing, and of course, making memories 🥹

For more than six years, Camp Manito-wish YMCA has helped make this special tradition possible, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the experiences and adventures they help create. 💫

We hope you had a blast, Seniors💙

🚀Our 5th grade scholars were cleared for lift-off this week!

Scholars from both Main and 24th Street Campus took part in The Hovercraft Project, an immersive STEM experience where students work together to design, build, test, and even RIDE their own hovercrafts!

Along the way, scholars put science, math, engineering, communication and problem-solving into action, learning firsthand what can happen when curiosity, perseverance and teamwork come together💪🏿

When our alumni came home for our All-Alumni Reunion Block Party this spring, we asked them what Milwaukee Academy of Science has meant to them.

They talked about teachers who cared. Relationships that lasted beyond graduation. Feeling supported, challenged and part of something bigger than themselves.

They talked about home.

Now, we’re getting ready to tell even more of their stories. 💫

At this year’s Annual Night with the Novas Gala, powerfully themed: Ambition. Triumph. Legacy., we’ll celebrate the Novas who once walked these halls as scholars, and the careers, families, communities and lives they are building TODAY..

Because our Novas’ stories don’t end when they graduate, they only just begin.✨
