Severe weather in the area has led to loss of power for many Milwaukee households. Per the FoodShare handbook, a loss of power for four (4) hours or more can qualify as a household misfortune.

Current FoodShare members who lose food purchased with FoodShare benefits due to a flood, a fire, or other household misfortune, can request the replacement benefits from the State. Members should fill out the Request for Replacement FoodShare Benefits Form (https://bit.ly/37Cy4LM) and submit it to their local agency online, by fax, by mail or in-person. The form must be submitted no more than ten (10) days after the incident.

The Milwaukee Justice Center is proud of its collaboration with the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center and its name change project for trans and gender non-conforming clients of the Center. We believe in the inherent humanity and dignity of our trans and gender non-conforming neighbors in Milwaukee. We also believe that our participation in the Wisconsin Public Interest Interview Program (WIPIIP), alongside an organization that stands contrary to those beliefs, is wrong.

The MJC will follow the lead of Legal Action of Wisconsin and withdraw from the WIPIIP. We will continue to offer summer fellowship positions and will reach out to students to schedule interviews at alternate days and times. Student involvement is an important part of the MJC services and we excitedly welcome hundreds of student interns and volunteers every year.

We look forward to meeting with the fantastic student applicants and to share more about our mission, our work, and our passions.
