A Member from Missoula Rural Firefighters L2457 spent the week in Arlington, TX at the IAFF national convention, which happens every two years. Members of the IAFF work on resolutions to construct and strengthen the future of unions and firefighting.

C-Shift with another rescue!

Maggie the Labrador found herself stuck at the bottom of a steep and muddy embankment in shallow water when her owner attempted to help and also became stuck. Both were rescued without injury by our station 6 crew.

Things happen fast. Be safe out there.

C-Shift had a busy Saturday that included two separate rescues, a RV fire and a structure fire response.

The images above portray 1 of 2 river rescues involving a patient falling 30+ feet from the cliffs above the Blackfoot River, sustaining multiple injuries. Crews needed to rappel down to the victim for initial patient care where the patient was treated, packaged and transported via the banana boat (river rescue boat) to the awaiting ambulance.

Our crews responded to a grass fire in the center median at the 109mm on I-90 yesterday that appeared to have been ignited by a dragging trailer chain. Wildland season is here and this is an important reminder to take extra precautions to ensure your safety chains are the appropriate length and not dragging.

Multiple agencies worked together to extinguish more than 100 vehicles on fire last week. Firefighters from around the region assisted Missoula Rural Firefighters in delivering more than 240,000 gallons of water!

Members of L2457 have returned home this week from the at state convention in Whitefish, MT and the New Members Conference in Kennewick, WA.

These opportunities allow our members to connect with our brothers and sisters from around the region, learn from one another and work towards the common goal of a stronger union for our firefighters.
