Work is set to begin on a project along North McGregor Avenue beginning Monday, Sept. 14. 🚧 The improvements will include resurfacing, drainage improvements, new sidewalks, and lighting between Springhill Avenue and the roundabout at Museum Drive.

Drivers can expect the closure of one lane of traffic at times throughout the project, and detours will be available when needed.

Twenty-five years ago, the world as we knew it changed when our nation came under attack. Today, we remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost, and we honor the first responders who gave everything in the line of duty. We can never forget.

Jimmy Buffett built a life and a following that spanned the globe, but the Gulf Coast was always the thread running through it. So it's fitting that this statue stands on Mobile's waterfront, right alongside the exhibit at the National Maritime Museum of the Gulf that tells his full story.

I want to thank the Buffett family, Karen Poth and her incredible staff at the Maritime Museum, Benjamin Victor, and everyone else who worked to bring this to life. Jimmy Buffett was Mobile's own, and it was an honor to unveil this statue today.

Since 2003, this playground at Lavretta Park has been a part of many lives in this community. While we spent part of this week saying "goodbye" to this wonderful place, I'm excited for what's coming next. I know the new playground will also be a place where memories are made, friendships are born, and fun is shared.

All City of Mobile offices and recycling centers will be closed on Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day. Roadside trash service will not run, and there is no makeup day. Normal business hours will resume on Tuesday, September 8.

September 2026 is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in the City of Mobile. Statistics show that 1 in every 285 children in the United States has cancer, and more children are lost to cancer than any other disease in the United States.

Resources in Mobile to help children with cancer include treatment at University Children & Women’s Hospital and Mitchell Cancer Center, housing at Ronald McDonald House of Mobile, fun activities at Camp Rap-A-Hope, fundraising events hosted by Aubreigh’s Army Foundation 328, Berry Strong Foundation, Joy of Life on the Gulf Coast, Raise 4 a Cure, and Miracle on the Bay. Thank you to everyone who joined us on Tuesday to receive the proclamation. 💛
