Mayor Dennis Biondo

Mayor Dennis Biondo I am a lifelong Monroeville resident, who learned from a young age about the importance of public service. I graduated in 2002 from Gateway High School.

My parents emphasized the value in helping others, motivating me to pursue ways to help the community. My father, Dennis Biondo Sr., is the Director of Kane Nursing Homes, an organization that provides nursing care for low income seniors, and my mother, Cathey Biondo, recently retired from her position as an elementary school teacher’s aid at Evergreen Elementary, assisting with special education

students. Then attended Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania where I graduated in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a minor in History. During the summer of my college years, I was Summer Help with the Monroeville Municipal Authority before working as an intern in the Monroeville office of Senator Sean Logan (D). I went on to Duquesne University School of Law and graduated in 2009 with a Juris Doctor. While at Duquesne, I served as President of the Public Interest Law Association. As President, I directed the silent auction that benefited interns in public interest law careers and organized community service projects for the Allegheny County community. I currently work as an attorney for the Allegheny County Law Department and previously spent five years in the Allegheny County Public Defender’s office. While at the Public Defender's Office, I worked in the Juvenile Division, Trial Division and Pretrial Division. I am now married with 1 year old twins. I hope to instill in my children the same values my parents instilled in me.

Despite the worst-case weather scenario of rain in the morning with dropping temperatures, over 400 volunteers donated their time and effort to clean up Monroeville’s roadways and parks for the 31st annual Jack Sedlak Memorial Clean Up Day on April 25.

Take what you need... and leave what you can. A new community resource is expanding to help our neighbors in need! The Free Little Pantry is now available at Community Park West near the sports courts AND outside the main entrance of Monroeville Public Library.

The pantries serve as a place where anyone can receive or donate non-perishable food items, and stand as a symbol of compassion, connection and community.

You can learn more about the project and how the pantries work here: https://www.monroeville.pa.us/m/newsflash/home/detail/167
