Montpelier Fire Department is going to be carrying boots in the Fair Parade on Wednesday August 12th. Proceeds go to Bear Lake Senior Centers Home Delivery program.
I want to share with you what your donation gives to your valley.
We deliver to seniors who cannot drive anymore or who cannot stand and make them a hot meal. They receive a hot meal to provide 3oz of protein, ½ cup of vegetable and ½ cup of fruit, 2oz of grains and ½ cup of dairy. The state nutritionist reviews each meal.
We have very special volunteer drivers who do a well check up on them when they are delivering their meal. A smile that may be the only smile they see that week.
We have unfortunately had to call 911 occasionally. We are a link to the outside world.
We have two routes; our Eastside route is Georgetown, Bennington, Montpelier and Di**le. Our Westside route is Bern, Liberty, Paris, Bloomington and Saint Charles. Most of the meals are only subsidized, not fully paid for. Your donation helps cover the difference. We have many seniors who do not qualify for the subsidized meals and cannot afford to pay for their meals. Your donation can help pay for meals. We currently have some seniors on the waiting list to receive a subsidized meal. Your donations help fill the vehicles with gasoline and help maintain them. Your donation helps buy the containers to transport the meals. Your donation changes one life one meal at a time.
We are a non-profit 501c3. We appreciate our Fire Department for their compassion towards our valley. We cannot succeed without our Valley’s help. We appreciate each one of you and your donation to help keep Bear Lake Senior Center open to provide hot meals to our Seniors in the valley.
