AFTERNOON STRUCTURE FIRE

This afternoon at approximately 3:00 p.m., Morgan County Firefighters responded to a residential structure fire in a vacant residence in Stoddard. Upon arrival, crews encountered defensive fire conditions and successfully extinguished the fire by 5:00 p.m. However, inadequate water supply in the neighborhood caused delays in extinguishment efforts.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Fortunately, no individuals, animals, or firefighters sustained injuries. We extend our sincere gratitude to all of our mutual aid and response partners for their assistance!

SLICK CONDITIONS, SLOW DOWN

Just before noon today, this single vehicle impacted the barrier sideways and was impaled by the crash attenuator. This occurred on the westbound Morgan County side at the mouth of Weber Canyon.

Miraculously, the occupant of the vehicle was relatively uninjured and was pinned by their leg underneath the large metal structure pictured. Crews were able to extricate the occupant and transport them to a local hospital for evaluation and care.

We want to remind everyone that all canyons and mountain passes can be unpredictable in what may seem like unassuming conditions. Please take the time to slow down and ensure your vehicle is properly equipped to handle adverse conditions.

🚒 Firefighter Extrication Training – One of Our Most Important Skills 🚑

When seconds count, our crews train to make every move matter. This week, Morgan County firefighters took part in one of the most critical trainings of the year, vehicle extrication.

These scenarios are intense, realistic, and vital. Whether it’s a car on its side, a rollover, or a multi-vehicle collision, we train to stay calm, move fast, and work as a coordinated team.

These skills save lives right here in Morgan County.

So, when you see our crews training, know that they’re preparing for the calls no one ever wants to make, but we’re always ready to answer.

👨‍🚒 Train hard. Stay ready. Protect our community.

🔥 Busy Weekend at Station 141! 🔥

It was a busy weekend for our new Morgan County Fire Station 141 in Peterson — located right next to one of our favorite local stops, Hinds Country Store. Our crews responded to multiple calls for help, including this structure fire that serves as an important reminder about a hidden household hazard: linseed oil.

⚠️ Safety Reminder: Linseed Oil and Spontaneous Combustion
Linseed oil is commonly used in woodworking and finishing, but it can spontaneously ignite if rags soaked in it are not handled correctly.

✅ Safe Disposal Tips:

Never toss oily rags into a pile or open trash can.

Soak rags in water and seal them in a plastic bag before disposal.

Store any used rags in an airtight metal container until they can be safely discarded.

By taking a few simple precautions, you can help prevent a potentially devastating fire.

Stay safe and thank you for your support! 👨‍🚒👩‍🚒

Last Friday was a big day for Morgan Fire! We celebrated the dedication of our second fire station a milestone years in the making.

Between all the usual Fire and EMS calls that keep our crews busy, we also had the privilege of helping deliver our third little miracle baby of the year. Moments like that remind us why we do what we do.

While most of our calls come on what might be someone’s worst day, every now and then we get that 1% the kind of call that reminds us of the very best in life. ❤️

A huge thank you to our community for your continued support, and to our firefighters and EMTs who show up every day, ready for anything. 🚒👶🔥

✈️ Not Your Usual Traffic Jam on I-84 🚒

At 3:22 PM today, Morgan County Fire was dispatched to a reported plane crash on the westbound side of I-84.

When crews arrived, they found something you don’t see every day: a small aircraft sitting safely on the freeway. The pilot experienced engine trouble but made a perfect emergency landing with no injuries and no damage to the plane.

🚗✈️ Traffic was briefly interrupted while crews ensured everything was safe, but we’re happy to report that both pilot and plane made it home safely.

👉 We’d like to give the pilot a big shout-out for an impressive landing.

And for everyone else stuck in traffic today… sorry, but not every slowdown is caused by a fender-bender — sometimes it’s a plane!
