Potato harvest is a little different from picking other crops. Specialized equipment carefully lifts the potatoes from beneath the soil, and separates them from the vines and soil, before they're moved into trucks.

From there, potatoes may be sorted, stored or sent on to processors and fresh markets. It takes a lot of coordination to keep everything moving during harvest.

When harvest arrives, it takes an entire team to bring a potato crop from the field to its next destination. Equipment operators, truck drivers, farm crews, storage teams, and many others all play an important role in keeping the process moving.

Behind every bag of Washington potatoes is a lot of coordination and a lot of people working together. As harvest season approaches, we're grateful for everyone who helps make it possible.

It's almost time to harvest, but preparation starts well before the first potatoes come out of the ground. Equipment needs to be ready, storage facilities need to be prepared, and growers are making plans for the weeks ahead.

A successful harvest takes more than getting the crop out of the field. It takes preparation, coordination, and a lot of work behind the scenes to keep everything moving.
