Congratulations to Matthew Posner of Suffern’s Troop 2021 on achieving the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout.

I was pleased to join Matthew’s Eagle Scout Court of Honor and present him with a New York State Senate Certificate of Achievement recognizing the dedication, leadership, and hard work required to reach Scouting’s highest rank.

Matthew will also receive a special New York State flag flown over the State Capitol in Albany in recognition of this outstanding accomplishment.

This weekend marked a special milestone as Gospel Music in the Park celebrated its 20th anniversary at Rockland Lake State Park. For two decades, this annual event has brought people together through faith, fellowship, and the uplifting power of gospel music.

I was pleased to join this year’s “Praise That Endures” celebration and present a New York State Senate Proclamation recognizing the event’s 20th anniversary and two decades of bringing people together at Rockland Lake.

Naturalization ceremonies are always incredibly moving. Each new citizen arrives with a unique story and journey, but they leave united by a shared commitment to our country and the responsibilities and opportunities that come with American citizenship.

I was privileged to attend a Naturalization Ceremony this weekend, welcoming 50 new American citizens and sharing in this important milestone with them and their families.

Congratulations to all 50 of our newest citizens, and welcome!

We mourn the passing of Wilber T. Aldridge, a dedicated leader whose life was defined by service, advocacy, and a deep commitment to his community.

For decades, Wilber worked tirelessly to advance civil rights and ensure that every person was treated with dignity, fairness, and respect. Through his leadership with the NAACP and his unwavering dedication to the causes he so deeply believed in, he made a meaningful difference in the lives of so many.

Wilber's passing is a profound loss for the entire community. His voice, his leadership, and his commitment to justice will be deeply missed, but the legacy he leaves behind will endure.

My heartfelt condolences are with his family and loved ones, as well as his friends, colleagues, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

This year, my Five Towns of Rockland Blood Drive Challenge collected 153 units of blood and 17 New Blood Donors. We collected 41 more units than last year during the ongoing national blood emergency. Thank you to all the Towns and Town Supervisors for their participation. Congratulations to the Town of Clarkstown and the Town of Haverstraw; your Trophies are being engraved and we look forward to presenting them to you.

If you missed our blood drive challange but want to donate I encourage you to look for upcomming blood drives nearby. https://donate.nybc.org/donor/schedules

National Night Out is a wonderful opportunity to bring neighbors together, recognize the men and women who serve our communities, and strengthen the partnerships that help keep Rockland County safe.

My team was pleased to attend National Night Out at Clover Stadium, sponsored by Polaris, and join residents, law enforcement, first responders, and community organizations for this special evening.

Today is a dark day for New York as the Medical Aid in Dying Act takes effect.

I fought this legislation tooth and nail from the day it was introduced until the final vote because I believe New York should always choose hope, compassion, and quality end-of-life care over physician-assisted death.

I remain committed to protecting our most vulnerable residents and defending the sanctity and dignity of every human life.

We attended a very special dinner celebrating Camp Ramah Nyack and had the opportunity to present the indefatigable Rabbi Ami Hirsch with a New York State Senate Certificate in recognition of the incredible work he does providing more than 800 campers and staff with a meaningful and memorable summer right here in Rockland County.

A particularly moving part of the evening was a tribute to beloved Camp Ramah lifeguard Captain Omer Neutra, who was murdered during the Hamas terrorist attacks on October 7. His parents, Ronen and Orna, were in attendance and shared the story of their son's life, his character, and the lasting impact he continues to have on so many. Their strength and their commitment to preserving his memory were deeply inspiring.

It was an evening of celebration and remembrance, honoring those who dedicate themselves to enriching the lives of others while remembering a young man whose life was tragically cut short by barbarism.

My team was pleased to attend the grand reopening of Walton Gould Children's Park in the Village of Spring Valley this weekend.

This beautiful new park provides children and families with a wonderful place to play, gather, and enjoy the outdoors.

Thank you to the Village of Spring Valley for investing in a space that will echo with the sound of children's laughter for years to come.
