🏅 Celebrating National Athletic Administrators Week! 🏅

This week, Morris Jeff Community School proudly recognizes Coach Eric Milton of Upper School and Coach Kiersten Thompson of Lower School!

Athletic leaders do so much behind the scenes to support student-athletes, coaches, teams, and school communities. Through their leadership, Coach Milton and Coach Thompson create opportunities for our Pelicans to build confidence, practice teamwork, persevere through challenges, and grow as principled, well-rounded IB learners.

Thank you both for your dedication to our students and for helping develop Relentless Learners, Equity Champions, Global Citizens, and Empowered Dreamers—on and off the field! 💙💛

📚💙💛 Building friendships through books!

Our Pelicans recently came together for a special buddy-reading experience! Ms. Lawrason’s sixth graders paired with Ms. Dellsperger’s second-grade class, while Ms. Davis’ fifth graders partnered with Ms. Madison’s first-grade class.

Our older students read alongside their younger buddies, shared favorite stories, and helped make reading a fun and meaningful experience. Activities like this allow students to build relationships across grade levels, practice leadership, and strengthen our sense of community.

We loved seeing the smiles and special connections that grew from their time together. A great book is even better when it is shared! 📖 📚️

💻 Celebrating IT Professionals Day! 💻

We proudly recognize Ms. Kristen Pate, Director of Instructional Technology, and our incredible ICT team!

Working behind the scenes across our campuses, they are committed to providing expert-level IT solutions by designing, implementing, maintaining, and upgrading the networks and systems that keep our school connected. Their innovation, problem-solving, and dedication ensure our educators have the tools they need to teach and our Pelicans have the technology they need to learn, inquire, create, and thrive.

Our students are taking on new leadership this year as they join the 5th grade student council!

Council members will partner with the Morris Jeff staff, 6th-7th student council, and their peers to help organize school events and amplify student voices. They are already excited about promoting IB learning objectives and starting a school newspaper, so keep an eye out for that 👀📰

We are so proud of them and can't wait to see what they will do this year 💙💛❤️

Meet Mr. Robert Lorsbach, one of our Upper School teachers!

What drew Mr. Lorsbach to Morris Jeff? A culture that values educators and the experience they bring to the classroom.

“What has drawn me to MJ is that the teachers have been treated like the professionals we are. Collectively, teachers at MJ have countless years of experience, many in the ever-changing world of New Orleans charter schools. We know and love our students.”

That combination of experience, professionalism, and genuine care for students is an important part of what makes Morris Jeff special. Our educators bring their knowledge to the table, learn from one another, and work together with a shared commitment to the students they serve.
