Bowen Proud! Celebrating our Latino Trailblazer!

Leadership is measured not only by growth, but by the lives touched along the way, and Lilibeth Marchena’s leadership of the Emma L. Bowen Community Service Center’s Rainbow Clubhouse is a powerful example of both.

That leadership has earned well-deserved recognition once again. For the second consecutive year, Lilibeth has been named a City and State NY Latino Trailblazer, recognizing her commitment to strengthening our communities and making a meaningful difference in New Yorkers’ lives.

Under Lilibeth’s leadership, Rainbow Clubhouse continues to grow and expand, welcoming more New Yorkers living with serious mental illness into a community built on belonging, opportunity, and hope. She has also worked to make Rainbow even more inclusive and accessible, particularly for Spanish-speaking members, by establishing a virtual Clubhouse and developing new initiatives that create more opportunities for members to connect, participate, and be part of the Rainbow community.

Twenty-five years later, we remember the lives lost, honor the heroes who answered the call, and hold close the families and communities forever changed by September 11th.

We also pause to mourn those we have lost in the years since from 9/11-related illnesses and stand with those who continue to live with the physical and emotional effects of that tragic day.

As we remember, may we also recommit ourselves to the compassion, courage, and sense of community that brought us together in the days that followed.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

The Bowen Center was thrilled to welcome New York State Senator Cordell Cleare for a tour of our new home on West 135th Street in Harlem.

During her visit, the Senator met with Bowen leadership and staff, spent time with speaking with and encouraging many of our clients clients, and toured our programs to see firsthand the comprehensive behavioral health and community-based services we provide to more than 5,000 New Yorkers each year.

The visit also gave us an opportunity to thank Senator Cleare for her steadfast support of the Bowen Center and for the important role she played in helping us secure our new home, ensuring that the critical services our community relies on could continue without interruption.

We are deeply grateful for Senator Cleare’s leadership, advocacy, and commitment to Harlem and the people we serve. We look forward to continuing our work together to strengthen behavioral health services and build a healthier, stronger community.

August is National Wellness Month, a reminder that true wellness means caring for the whole person.

At the Bowen Center, we support New Yorkers at every age and every stage of life. Through behavioral healthcare, addiction treatment, rehabilitation, care management, therapeutic preschool and early childhood services, and food assistance, we help individuals and families heal, find stability, and move forward.

Wellness is a journey, and no one should have to take it alone.
