🩺 Here for Your Health

Having a nurse available at the Center gives members a chance to ask questions, keep an eye on their health, and better understand the information they receive from their doctors.

Nurse Carrie is here once a week to check blood pressure, talk through medications and health concerns, and help members feel more prepared to advocate for their own health. A conversation with a healthcare professional can help you know what questions to ask, what to follow up on, and when something deserves more attention.

Thank you to our Postal Inspector for an important talk on scams - whether they be romance, mail stealing and also mailbox fishing. Mailbox fishing is when thieves steal envelopes containing checks directly out of outdoor blue collection boxes. Best advice - mail your letters directly through the post office. If you use a blue mailbox be aware of when the last pickup is and drop your mail off very close to that pick up.

🎟️ Golden Ticket Week brought a little extra fun to the Center!

In celebration of Older Adult Center Month, we hid one Golden Ticket somewhere in the Center each day. One lucky member found it and won a special surprise!

It’s just one of the fun ways we bring extra joy to our Center community — and another reason to see what’s happening here.

From exercise and special programs to presentations, celebrations, lunch and more, there’s always something on the calendar.

In honor of Older Adult Center Month, we’re taking a moment to look back at the woman whose name our Center proudly carries — Sister Annunciata Bethell.

A Bronx native and longtime community leader, Sister Annunciata saw the need for a place where older adults could come together for meals, activities, support and connection — and she helped make it happen. What she began more than 50 years ago became an important part of the Bedford Park community and continues today.
