Founded in 2012 as part of New York City's Innovative Senior Center initiative and expanded citywide in 2014, SAGE's Senior Center program provides a comprehensive array of unique services and programs related to art

Representatives from Iris House will present on the Build Up (BU) Program, a culturally affirming initiative designed to meet the essential health, behavioral, and housing needs of LGBTQ+ individuals of color, with a particular focus on Black/African American and Latinx gay/bisexual men (MSM) and transgender women in Central/East Harlem and the South Bronx. Services include educational wellness workshops, healthy eating sessions, housing workshops, a weekly peer support group, navigation services, HIV/STI prevention, and community referrals. Free and open to all SAGE members and the broader community.

Dr. Marcus Sandling, MD, AAHIVS, Director of Sexual Health for the Western Region at Northwell Health and Assistant Professor of Medicine, will present a lecture on how medical mistrust affects HIV PrEP uptake among Black MSM, transgender, and non-binary individuals. The lecture will cover the history of HIV prevention, current medications including PrEP, and the historical context of medical mistrust in Black communities.

We're saddened to share the passing of Renata Ramos.

Renata was a beloved SAGE elder whose charisma lit up the rooms she walked into. She was a proud Uruguayan, transgender activist, model, and actress—among countless other accolades. She was a force of nature, and we will deeply miss her signature humor and candor.

In one of her final interviews for CNN, she defiantly proclaimed "we’re not afraid" when asked about current attacks on trans rights.

Let's keep fighting back and prioritizing q***r joy in Renata's honor. Rest in power, reina 👑🕊️

A bone health lecture presented by Sydney Franco, PA-C (she/her), a board-certified Physician Assistant specializing in endocrine conditions including osteoporosis. This is a follow-up lecture to our session back in May. Topics include bone density, osteoporosis risk factors, ways to maintain bone health, and how to speak with a provider about bone health evaluation and treatment.
