We’re celebrating two very special members of the Encore Community Services team! Last night, Ana Quinones and Alveny De La Cruz received the 2026 Citymeals on Wheels STAR Award, recognizing their dedication to going above and beyond in service to older New Yorkers.

Their work reflects what Encore strives to provide every day, beyond essential services: care, dignity, compassion, and meaningful connection.

We’re proud to celebrate our Chief Financial Officer Judith Castillo, who has been named one of City & State New York’s 2026 Latino Trailblazers!

Judith’s leadership has been instrumental in Encore’s growth and our ability to serve more older New Yorkers. Since joining Encore in 2019, she has helped guide the organization’s growth from a $7 million budget to $18 million while nearly doubling our staff to more than 100 people.

Behind every meal delivered, every older adult supported and every program we expand is the strong foundation that makes that work possible. Judith’s leadership, expertise and commitment to Encore’s mission have helped build that foundation.

Congratulations, Judith, on this well-deserved recognition!

Today, we celebrated an important milestone: the reopening of the newly restored elevator at our Aging Through the Arts Center in Midtown Manhattan.

For the older New Yorkers who rely on the center, this elevator is much more than a building improvement. It means easier access to the services, activities and relationships that help them remain connected and continue living independent, dignified lives.

Encore CEO Jeremy Kaplan was joined by New York City Council Member Carl Wilson, and New York State Senator Erik Bottcher, New York City Department for the Aging Executive Deputy Commissioner and Chief Program Officer Ryan Murray, and older adults to cut the ribbon. And, we thank PIX 11’s Monica Morales for highlighting the issue and Encore’s work on behalf of older New Yorkers.

Today, the elevator—and a vital pathway to community—is back in service!

Our members recently dressed to impress, hit the dance floor, and celebrated and danced at our annual Senior Prom. From favorite songs, treasured memories and lots of DANCING!!

Six chefs entered. Two finalists remain.

After an exciting preliminary competition on August 11, our Golden Chef finalists are headed to the championship round, where they’ll take on Encore Chef Stephen Copeland in an epic culinary showdown.

The Secret Ingredient remains a mystery... for now.

Encore Community Services proudly hosted its inaugural Golden Chef Competition, and what an incredible success it was!

Inspired by the excitement of televised cooking competitions like Iron Chef, six older adult contestants stepped into the spotlight to showcase their culinary creativity, skills, and confidence in a live cooking challenge that brought our community together in a truly special way.

With a surprise secret ingredient, just 30 minutes on the clock, the chefs rose to the occasion and delivered impressive dishes that wowed both the judges and the audience.

A special thank you goes to the incredible Encore staff who brought this event to life.

Congratulations to our finalist chefs who will advance to the Golden Chef Finale this September, where they will compete for the title of Encore’s first-ever Golden Chef Champion.
