Community Education Council District 2

Community Education Council District 2 CEC District 2 oversees public elementary/ middle schools in NYC Community School District 2.

Ten CEC members are parents in the district and are elected by families in District 2, two are appointed by the Borough President and one is a selected student. Community Education Councils (CECs), created by the New York State Legislature, are the local bodies responsible for ensuring that public school parents and the public have input in educational decision-making at the community school distr

ict level. CEC District 2 covers Manhattan from the Battery to roughly 58th Street on the West Side and to roughly 96th Street on the East Side with the exception of the Lower East Side and part of Chinatown, which are in District 1.

Mix, mingle, and connect with fellow parents with adult beverages and snacks at the P.S. 40 Cafeteria following an abbreviated PTA meeting.

In addition to the art, this event kicks off our Teacher Raffles, where you can buy tickets for your child to have a chance to win a fun activity (like a pizza lunch) with your favorite P.S. 40 teachers, staff, and administrators.

This is next Wednesday, March 18, from 6:30-8:30 PM. No kids allowed

As part of our partnership with the Whitney Museum of American Art, PS3 students and their families are invited to an after-hours Family Night on Thursday, March 12th, 2026 at 6:15 PM. Join us for an evening of art making and gallery exploration in the Whitney’s current exhibitions.

Please note tickets are free but capacity is limited. Tickets will be distributed by lottery.
Due to limited capacity, we request only one adult attend per family. All children must be PS3 students to attend.

Lottery winners will receive an email confirming their attendance.

PS3's Media Aware Parents invite you to a free screening of Can't Look Away on 3/16. Can't Look Away is a gripping documentary that exposes the dark side of social media and its devastating impact on young users.

The film will be followed by a panel discussion, a raffle for 5 copies of The Amazing Generation and a chance to explore smartphone alternatives.

The event takes place on Monday, 3/16 from 6:00-8:15pm in PS3's auditorium in the West Village. RSVP here
