6/15 Green, a community garden in the South Slope (at the intersection of 6th Avenue and 15th Street in Brooklyn) is hosting its annual Fall Festival and Plant Sale on Saturday, September 27th from 10:30 am to 8:00 pm. Festivities start at 10:30 a.m., and include activities for children, live music, and a bake sale. The rain date will be Sunday, September 28. A potluck is scheduled to start at 3:00. Some of the activities will take place on 15th Street, which will be closed off from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. The plant sale will take place from 10 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
6/15 Green’s annual Harvest Festival will begin under the willow tree, as it always does, with joyous music for the children. At 10:30, folksinger Brooke Dramer will be joined onstage by singers Mikhail Haramati and Eman Rashid and their menagerie of hand puppets. The children's concert will be the usual mix of Beatles songs and English and American folk music—with songs ranging from the 15th through 20th centuries. All of the children will be invited to go up on stage to perform with animal hand puppets during the Tom Paxton song "Going to the Zoo."
Immediately after the show, children can walk over to the garden's Story Grove to hear Brooklyn author Lauren Fornoles read aloud from her books Sheba the Alley Cat and Night Owl and Early Bird (see https://youtu.be/ZKCOnwssoT0 for a sample of her reading aloud.) 15th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues will be closed for most of the day.
