Our latest Project Zayne stop brought us across the state line to Newell, WV!
Zayne wasn’t able to make and there’s always a little piece of our heart that hurts when he can’t be there for the moments created because of him.
But somehow, they made sure he was still a part of it. 🥹💙
The crew at Newell VFD welcomed Project Zayne with open arms, listened to why we do what we do, and before we left, they sent a special gift home just for Zayne.
They didn’t have to do that.
But they thought of him.
And when you’re raising a child who experiences the world a little differently, there is something incredibly emotional about watching complete strangers make an effort to make sure your child feels seen, included, and remembered — even when he isn’t standing in the room.
Zayne may not fully understand just how many people he is reaching through Project Zayne.
But someday, I hope he understands that simply by being exactly who he is, he helped make his little corner of the world a little more understanding and a little more prepared for kids just like him.
Thank you, Newell VFD, for your kindness, for Zayne’s gift, and most importantly, for reminding us that he didn’t have to be there to leave his mark. 🚒💙
