📚🐾 TUESDAY TIP: READ ALOUD TOGETHER! 🐾📚

Every Tuesday, we’ll share a tip to help you support your child’s learning at home. Each tip may look a little different depending on your child’s grade level, so please adjust it to fit your family.

This week’s tip is all about literacy: read aloud together! Reading aloud helps children build vocabulary and develop reading and writing skills. It’s also a wonderful opportunity to spend quality one-on-one time together. ❤️

Here are a few ways to make the most of reading time:

📖 Read aloud together every day for 15–20 minutes.

🔁 Read favorite stories again and again!

💬 Talk about the story before, during, and after reading. Ask your child what they notice and what they think might happen next.

📚 Ask your local library to suggest diverse, age-appropriate books, poetry, and songs. Many of our families now have library cards—this is a great time to put them to use!

🎨 Connect books to everyday life. For example: “In this book, Yoko brought sushi to school for lunch. What special food would you like to make for lunch?”

Our students learn and grow best when we work together. Teachers cannot do it alone, and every moment families spend supporting learning makes a difference. Thank you for being part of the team! ❤️

❤️ Today We Wore RED for Red Ribbon Week! ❤️

Today, we proudly wore red to show our support for Red Ribbon Week! ❤️

Red Ribbon Week is a national campaign celebrated October 23–31 that encourages children and families to make healthy choices and live drug-free lives. It teaches students about the importance of saying NO to drugs, making positive decisions, and taking care of their minds and bodies.

By wearing red today, we showed our commitment to staying healthy, making smart choices, and building a bright future!

On Friday, October 30, Northside students are invited to dress as their favorite storybook character or an animal from a book! What better way to celebrate our love of reading than to step into the stories we enjoy? 🦁👑🐰

We can’t wait to see our Bulldogs’ creativity and the books that inspire them!

Through our Word of the Day, teachers and students explore new vocabulary and use these words in lessons and conversations throughout the week. Each new word helps our young people become stronger readers, writers, and communicators!

Families, you can join in, too! Ask your child about the words they are learning and practice using them together at home. Every conversation is an opportunity to grow! ❤️
