BAT SEASON IS HERE!

From the first week of August through the first couple weeks of September, many bats are looking for places to roost as they prepare for fall and winter. This means you may be more likely to find a bat in or around your home during this time!

A few important things to remember: Bat bites can be very small and may not be visible. If you are bitten, scratched, or have direct contact with a bat, wash the area immediately with soap and water and seek medical advice.

If you wake up with a bat in your bedroom, or a young child or someone unable to reliably report contact was in the room with a bat, contact the health department for guidance.

Temporary Referral Update:
Due to continued growth in demand for services, the West Central Nebraska Area Agency on Aging (WCNAAA) is temporarily not accepting new referrals into our Care Management and Family Caregiver Support programs.
This decision was made to ensure our Care Managers can continue providing the highest quality service to the clients currently enrolled in these programs.
Current clients will continue receiving services without interruption.
At this time, WCNAAA will not be establishing a waiting list. When we begin accepting new referrals again, applicants will be considered using the agency's established Priority of Service criteria to ensure individuals with the greatest need receive assistance first.
This temporary change affects only the Care Management and Family Caregiver Support programs. All other WCNAAA services—including Information and Assistance, SHIP Medicare counseling, Senior Center support, and other aging services—remain available.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to responsibly manage the growing demand for services while maintaining the quality of care our clients deserve.
For questions, please contact WCNAAA at 1-800-662-2961 or visit www.wcnaaa.org.
