🌈 Happy Pride Month! 🌈

At Guardian Light Family Services, we are committed to creating safe spaces, building stronger families, and celebrating diversity. We believe every child deserves to feel seen, supported, and accepted, and every family deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.

Throughout June, we'll be sharing messages, resources, and reflections focused on inclusion, belonging, and the importance of welcoming children and families from all backgrounds.

Be sure to follow along and check back throughout the month as we celebrate Pride Month and continue the conversation about creating communities where everyone belongs. ❤️

Voices of Foster Care 💙

Meet Janelle, Foster Care Specialist in Palmyra, Nebraska 🏡

Janelle’s “why” is simple but powerful—she loves helping children and families grow stronger together. 💙

Through foster care, she sees children given the opportunity to heal while being surrounded by caring adults who provide safety, stability, and support during difficult seasons of life.

One of the most meaningful parts of her work is watching families grow stronger and seeing the impact that encouragement, care, and consistency can have on both children and parents.

Janelle also shared that foster care and fostering come with challenges many people may never fully see or understand. That perspective motivates her to continue showing up for children, foster parents, and families every single day.

💙 May is Foster Care Month, and we’re honored to continue sharing the voices and stories behind foster care and family support.

💙Voices of GLFS

Meet Maddy, Family Support Worker in Grand Island, Nebraska 🏡

Maddy’s “why” is rooted in supporting families through difficult seasons with compassion, guidance, and encouragement. 💙

She believes every person is capable of positive change when they are given the support and tools they need to succeed. Through her work, she helps families recognize their strengths, build healthier relationships, and work toward healing and reunification whenever safely possible.

Maddy shared that one of the most meaningful parts of this work is watching parents and children begin to reconnect after periods of hurt or distance. Seeing trust slowly rebuilt reminds her why this work matters and why continued support can make such a lasting impact.

She also hopes more people understand that many families involved in the foster system are not “bad people.” Often, they are overwhelmed, lacking support, or facing challenges they were never taught how to navigate.

💙 Even on hard days, Maddy stays motivated knowing that even small moments of encouragement and support can help change the future for a child or family.

May is Foster Care Month, and we’re honored to continue sharing the voices and stories behind this work. 🏡

Foster Care Myths vs. Facts 💙

There are many misconceptions about foster care—and during Foster Care Month, we want to help break some of those myths. 🏡

Foster care is about providing children with safety, stability, and support during difficult times while families work toward healing and reunification whenever possible.

Every day, foster families open their homes and hearts to children in need—and they don’t do it alone.

Throughout May, we’ll continue sharing facts, stories, and voices from foster families in our community to help raise awareness about the realities of foster care. 💙

Voices of Foster Care 💙

Meet Brittany & Eric 🏡

When Brittany and Eric decided to open their home to foster, they wanted an agency that would support and guide them through every step of the journey—and that’s exactly what they found with GLFS. 💙

Over the last three years, they’ve experienced both the challenges and rewards that come with fostering and adoption. Through it all, they shared how important communication, honesty, training, and ongoing support have been for their family.

Foster care may come with uncertainty, but no foster family should have to navigate it alone. Having a team that listens, advocates, and walks alongside families can make all the difference.

Today, Brittany and Eric say GLFS has helped shape their family—and we are honored to have been part of their journey. 💙

May is Foster Care Month, and throughout the month we’ll continue sharing the voices and experiences of foster families in our program.

Voices of Foster Care 💙

Meet Tesha & Daniel 🏡

After already working in the child and family services field, Tesha understood firsthand how great the need is for safe, supportive foster homes.

When she and her husband Daniel, decided to become foster parents, they were looking for an agency that would walk alongside them throughout the process—and they found that support with GLFS. 💙

From licensing and training to navigating day-to-day challenges, they shared how meaningful it has been to have a team that listens, supports, and advocates for both their family and the children in their home.

Foster care is never something families should have to navigate alone. Having connection, guidance, and support can make all the difference for both foster parents and children.

💙 May is Foster Care Month, and we’re honored to continue sharing the voices and experiences of foster families in our program.
