🚨 HOT CAR DEATH PREVENTION 🚨

The combination of a continued Heat Advisory, a busy holiday weekend, and changes to our daily routines can create a deadly situation in just minutes.

So far in 2026:
🇺🇸 8 children have died in hot cars across the United States.
❤️ 2 of those deaths occurred in Alabama.
📍 1 happened right here in Tuscaloosa County.

Every one of these tragedies was 100% preventable.

During holiday weekends, it’s easy to become distracted by cookouts, family gatherings, shopping, or travel. A simple change in routine can have devastating consequences.

🌡️ Never leave a child alone in a vehicle—not even for a minute. Temperatures inside a parked vehicle can rise to deadly levels in just a few minutes, even with the windows cracked.

Protect the ones who matter most:

👶 Look Before You Lock every time you exit your vehicle.
🎒 Place your purse, wallet, phone, or work badge in the back seat as a reminder.
🚗 Always check the back seat before locking your doors.
📞 If you see a child alone in a hot vehicle, call 911 immediately.

This holiday weekend, let’s make sure every family returns home safely.

🎆 FIREWORKS ARE ILLEGAL WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF NORTHPORT 🎆

The highlighted areas on the map represent the City of Northport, where the possession, sale, and discharge of consumer fireworks are prohibited.

⚠️ Keep in mind that our city limits is not a “whole solid” area and it is filled with gaps and holes: One street may be inside the city limits, while the very next street could be in unincorporated Tuscaloosa County where it is legal. ⚠️

Tuesday, June 30, 2026 | 9:00 PM CDT

Dangerous heat and humidity will increase the risk of heat-related illness. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outdoors.

☀️ Heat Safety Tips

💧 Drink plenty of water—don’t wait until you’re thirsty.

🏠 Stay in air conditioning whenever possible.

🧢 Wear lightweight, light-colored, loose-fitting clothing.

⏰ Limit strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.

🚗 Never leave children, pets, or vulnerable adults in a parked vehicle—even for a minute.

👵 Check on elderly family members, neighbors, and anyone without reliable air conditioning.

😵 Know the warning signs:

* Heavy sweating
* Dizziness
* Muscle cramps
* Nausea
* Confusion

🚑 Call 911 immediately if someone shows signs of heat stroke, including confusion, loss of consciousness, or a body temperature above 103°F.

Happy Father’s Day from Chief Marshall and Northport Fire Rescue

Today, we want to recognize the dads who answer the call—both at home and in the fire station.

Being a firefighter means missing some of life’s biggest moments. It means being gone every third day, working holidays, missing ballgames, school programs, birthdays, and family dinners. It means leaving home when others are gathering together.

Yet through the missed events and long shifts, our firefighter dads continue to serve their families and their community with dedication, sacrifice, and love.

To the fathers of Northport Fire Rescue: thank you for the example you set, the sacrifices you make, and the commitment you show both on and off duty. Your families share in your service, and today we honor all of you.

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads who serve, protect, and provide—at home and on the front lines.

Today we celebrate two enduring symbols of our nation:

🎖️ 250 Years of the United States Army (1775–2025)
For two and a half centuries, America’s Soldiers have answered the call to defend our freedom, protect our nation, and serve with honor.

We also honor the Stars and Stripes, a symbol of unity, sacrifice, and the ideals that make America strong.

As we proudly display Old Glory today, let us remember the generations of men and women who have served under its colors and continue to protect the freedoms it represents.
