Our 3rd Grade Concert turned into the hoedown of the year—and it did not disappoint.

From fancy hats and fishing scenes to a cozy campfire and even a runaway lobster, our students brought energy, creativity, and a whole lot of personality to the stage. It was more than a performance—it was a full experience that had the crowd smiling from start to finish.

🎶 Featured performances included:
Wide Open Spaces
Little Ol’ Cowboy
The Crawdad Song
Git Along Little Dogies
Piney Mountain Home
Sittin’ Around the Campfire
Home on the Range

Moments like this remind us that learning comes to life in so many ways—and when students are given the opportunity to shine, they show up in a big way.

A special thank you to Mrs. Edwards for reminding us that music belongs in our schools and plays a vital role in shaping the student experience.

Great job to our 3rd-grade performers and staff for putting on a night Panther Nation won't forget.

Lunch with a Hero at OGE was a big hit! Members of Sni Valley Fire and Officer Bob joined our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders in the cafeteria. The students were excited to talk with the Heros, almost as excited as the Heros were for chicken patties and blue applesauce. Thanks so much to everyone who made this day possible.

On Friday we celebrated our March MVPs. The character trait for the month was Patience, a trait that is so important for our students.

We also celebrated our winning class from our Mutt Madness Challenge. OGE Kids in Capes organized a canned dog food donation challenge and the winning class was Mrs. Thomas’s 3rd grade class.

Below are MVP pictures as well as a photo dump of pictures of staff and students competing in a hot spot basketball challenge. Our MVPs and Mrs. Thomas’s both competed hard but the staff won both matchups. Thanks for everyone for donating and helping with our assembly.

This week some of our STEM classes were able to see a crop dusting drone demonstration. The students enjoyed learning about the technology used to operate the drone as well as its effect on agriculture. Big shoutout to Nick Marti at the high school who set the demonstration up for his students to learn about possible future careers. In total 66 elementary students saw the demonstration and 150 high school students. Thank you to Missouri Biotechology Association for coming and teaching all of our students. It is so important for students of all ages to receive this hands on instruction.

Exciting Attendance Challenge Ahead at OGE!

As we head into the final stretch of the school year, we want to highlight something that makes a big difference in student success: showing up every day. We know there are times when students are sick or have unavoidable absences, but consistent attendance plays a major role in helping students learn, grow, and stay connected at school.

To help encourage strong attendance through the end of the year, OGE is launching two fun attendance incentive programs:

1. March Madness-Style Class Attendance Competition
Classes have been randomly placed into a 19-team bracket and will compete each week to see which class has the highest attendance percentage. The class with the highest attendance each week will advance to the next round.

The winning class will earn an ice cream party with Assistant Principal Mr. McKiddy.

The bracket is attached, and this week's matchups are:

DeSchepper vs. White
Thompson vs. Geary
Hess vs. Hampton

Most classes will begin competition next week, so be sure to follow along and cheer on your class.

2. Individual Attendance Incentive
Students who maintain 90% attendance or higher from now until the end of the year will be invited to a special celebration featuring music and popsicles provided by our Oak Grove PTO.

Students who maintain 95% attendance or higher will earn that celebration plus an extra recess.

These celebrations will take place just before the end of the school year.

* Attendance percentage is calculated by dividing the total number of hours attended by the total number of hours possible.

** Attendance will be calculated from March 23 through the week of the celebrations.

We are excited to celebrate our students' commitment, dedication, and hard work. Thank you for your continued support in helping our students finish the school year strong.

Congratulations to our young Oak Grove youth athletes on a strong finish to their winter sports season.

At the Battle of Oak Grove Tournament, our youth basketball teams closed out the season with great success, with the 4th/5th Grade Boys earning 1st place and the other 4th/5th Grade boys team finishing 2nd place.

Our Little League wrestlers also represented Oak Grove well at Little League State. Congratulations to Eleanor Posner and Re*****on Haines on both earning 4th-place finishes and Shailynn Danner who wrestles for Jackson County Wrestling Club in their respective brackets.

We are proud of the hard work, dedication, and competitive spirit these young athletes showed all season long. The future is bright in Panther Nation.
