Last night we had the honor of presenting our association scholarships to Gaven Hackett and Keegan Smith. Our scholarship is funded by the profits from our bar at the community building. No donated money goes to the funding. Gaven is a member of our cadet program and spent a lot of time at the station as part of the Riverside Ijag program. Keegan has helped with our annual pancake breakfast on the 4th of July for many years and has always been a tremendous help. We congratulate them on their graduation and wish them nothing but success.

We were paged to a tractor and planter fire this afternoon. Fortunately no one was injured when the fire started. We would like to thank our partners at Carson Fire and Rescue and Minden Fire & Rescue for their support with water and apparatus. A special thanks goes to Kim Schorsch and Keanan Martin for responding with tractors and disc to help contain the field fire.

Yesterday our crews trained on search and rescue. We utilized our training area in the attic of the city shop. We used a smoke machine to completely smoke the area and the ambient temperature was 103F due to it being attic space. It added a little more realism to the experience. It was a good training experience for our new personnel to be on air and feel a little heat while searching. The photos are shots from a thermal imaging camera taken while crews performed their evolutions.
