ican freedom and democracy, voluntarily aiding and rendering assistance to all Marines and former Marines and to their widows and orphans; and to perpetuate the history of the United States Marine Corps and by fitting acts to observe the anniversaries of historical occasions of particular interest to Marines.

Local students and veterans gathered Sunday at Marion County Veterans Park in Ocala for a Flag Day program aimed at teaching young people the importance of the American flag.

Did you know…?
Marion County’s, Vets Helping Vets USA, a local charity, provided 4,000 lbs of food to area veterans in need, in the month of March. In April that amount rose to over 12,000 lbs of food.

The need is great.

Detachment #061 is collecting food items for Vets Helping Vets. Your donations can be brought to our detachment building on either meeting night (first Monday of each month, 7pm) or Steak Nite (third Saturday of each month, 6pm).

Together we can help feed veterans and their families!
