From the Ground Up: Tammy’s Journey in Education 🎓📚💪

"I barely graduated high school by the skin of my teeth, but I went back to college... and I graduated with flying colors."

In this short clip, Tammy Battiest opens up about a critical turning point in her life. When her first marriage ended, she found herself needing a reliable path to support her young family. Despite having struggled significantly in high school, she made the bold decision to return to school.

Tammy took her education by storm, first earning her Associate Degree with honors at Redlands Community College in El Reno, Oklahoma. She then continued her academic journey at the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO), where she successfully earned her teaching degree.

That hard work laid the foundation for an incredible career. Tammy spent the next 20-plus years working as a dedicated physical education and health teacher, as well as a coach, across Oklahoma City and Midwest City.
Her life story is a powerful reminder that it is never too late to reshape your path or find your grounding through resilience and commitment. ⭕️

Most of you know her as Executive Director Melvin Baptiste’s wife, but today, Tammy is stepping in front of the camera to share her own perspective! While she admits it can be hard to talk about yourself, she’s giving a brief snippet into her story and her deep passion for the people they serve.

As Melvin's wife and a proud mother, Tammy also steps into the role of a "spiritual mama" to several men and women working to rebuild their lives on the streets. Her simple, powerful mission is to help them survive, thrive, and know that they are wanted, loved, and more than enough! ⭕️🤝
