The Omak Police Department would like to inform families and community members that earlier today, the Omak High School received an anonymous phone call reporting threats.

Upon receiving the call, school officials immediately notified law enforcement, our School Resource Officer responded without delay and coordinated additional law enforcement agencies to provide a presence on the campuses. As a precaution, the schools were placed on lockdown to ensure the safety of all students and staff while law enforcement conducted the investigation.

After consulting with school district leadership it was determined the threat was no longer credible. The lockdown was lifted and normal school activities resumed.

Law enforcement remained on-site following the investigation to provide additional reassurance and ensure the continue safety of students, staff, and families.

The safety and well being of our students and staff remain one of our highest priorities. We appreciate the cooperation of the school community during this situation.

Thank you for your continued support.

Correctional officers show up every day for one of the toughest jobs out there — usually without applause. Their work protects communities and creates safer, more stable environments inside our facilities. This week, we see you, we appreciate you, and we thank you.
