We are aware that there is some inaccurate information circulating in our community regarding our cost recovery ordinance, which is causing concern among residents. Late this afternoon we were dispatched to a fire in the marsh off of Bayview. A large fire was confirmed and moving North quickly. Mutual aid was requested, including air resources from the Forest Service. With the help from all we stabilized the incident and the Forest Service took over the incident allowing us to clear. We cannot thank our partners enough! Thank you to Manistee Central Dispatch, Bear Lake Township Fire, Arcadia Township Fire, Mobile Medical Response, Manistee County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, US Forest Service and Consumers Energy.

*As always, we love our residents and interacting with all of you. But please, do not enter a fire scene unless requested by authorized personnel. It is dangerous and we have other priorities. You do not have the right to be in a fire scene.*

This week is National Public Safety Telecommunicators week! Special thank you to Manistee County 911. They are the first ones you talk to in an emergency but the ones who are rarely if ever seen. The work they do is unreal and we are thankful for them everyday. They are truly the glue that holds us all together. Thank you dispatchers!
