Today, officers participated in the 60 Minutes to Safer Swimming program, hosted by the Orlando Police Department, Orlando Fire Department, and City of Orlando Families, Parks and Recreation.

This was the first of multiple, free introductory swimming lessons being offered for children ages 3 and up.

The goal: To teach kids important water safety basics to help prevent drowning, build confidence around pools, and even provide hands on CPR instruction for families.

Registration is FULL for the 60 Minutes to Safer Swimming program, but parents can still register their children for regular swimming lessons through the City of Orlando website.

Ballin’ After Dark is officially underway!

Tonight, the Orlando Police Department’s Neighborhood Patrol Unit hosted the first Ballin’ After Dark event. Every Friday night this summer, teens can join officers on the court for basketball, positive interaction, and a safe place to spend their Friday evening.

This program gives officers the opportunity to build relationships with youth, support kids, and strengthen connections throughout the community, one game at a time.
