The Christian Service Center for the Homeless is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to preventing homelessness and combating poverty in Central Florida. Since 1971, the Christian Service Center has served the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of our community. We were honored to welcome representatives from Bartow, Winter Haven, Apopka, Sanford, and Orange County to our campus to learn more about our 407 Connect shelter bus program! 🚌💙

Representatives from the various Community Redevelopment Agencies had the opportunity to see 407 Connect firsthand, learn how the program operates, and hear about the impact it has had on those we serve.

We are proud to share what we have learned through 407 Connect and inspire other communities to explore innovative solutions that could help meet the needs of their own neighbors experiencing homelessness.

Meet this week's Good Neighbor: Claudia!

Claudia is a treasured volunteer who brings a smile and positive energy to our campus each time she is here. With her kind and soft-spoken demeanor, she is always ready to lend a helping hand wherever she is needed.

Claudia primarily supports our mail room, helping ensure our clients can access their mail and important documents, but you can also find her stepping in wherever she can best support our team and those we serve.

We are so grateful for Claudia's time, dedication, and willingness to help!

Before lunch, one of our neighbors shared these words with the room. It was a simple reminder of the community that surrounds each meal served at the Christian Service Center.

One year of 407 Connect! 🚌💙

In August 2025, the 407 Connect shelter bus program began with one goal in mind: helping more of our neighbors move from homelessness to home.

One year later, we are proud to celebrate 138 individuals housed through the program!

This milestone would not have been possible without the support of the City of Orlando, whose partnership and generous investment helped bring 407 Connect to life. We are incredibly grateful for their continued commitment to creating housing solutions in our community.

We also thank our dedicated team, community partners, and everyone who has supported 407 Connect along the way.

One year down, 138 housed, and more journeys home ahead.

A special thank you to our Good Neighbor, Walt Disney World, for supporting our Daily Bread kitchen with food donations! 🚚💙

Every Tuesday and Thursday, Disney delivers food to our campus, including chicken breast, snack boxes, sandwiches, fruit, and more. These donations help our kitchen provide well-rounded meals to the neighbors we serve.

We are so grateful for this continued partnership and the important role it plays in helping us serve our community.

Homelessness is not a crime.

Behind every experience of homelessness is a person facing their own unique circumstances, challenges, and barriers to housing.

At the Christian Service Center, we believe everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and compassion. We are proud to provide a safe place for our unhoused neighbors to spend their day, access meals and essential services, and work alongside a case manager on their journey toward stable housing.

Our vision is a community where no one sleeps outside, and every day, we are working to help more people find their way home.

Meet this week's Good Neighbor: Edward!

Edward is a volunteer who helps in our Boutique and clothing department multiple days a week. He is a vital part of our campus and always brings a positive attitude to every interaction!

Our Boutique relies on volunteers like Edward to help our clients and neighbors access clothing, shoes, hygiene kits, and other essentials.

This week, we are happy to shine a spotlight on an important member of our team: Amanda! 💙

Amanda is our Guest Services Coordinator and wears many hats here at CSC. Our queen of organization, she helps manage our new 816 building, including the mail program, storage facilities, laundry, and showers. Once the building is open, she will also help our clients check in and access these services.

Amanda plays an important role in making sure our clients can receive and access critical mail, including documents related to SNAP benefits, Social Security, and other services.

What inspires you in your job?
Helping people in our community.

What is your favorite part of your job?
Seeing people smile when we are able to help them.

What accomplishment are you most proud of during your time here?
Organizing the mail room to ensure our clients can receive and access important documents smoothly and easily.

What is one of the biggest misconceptions people have about those who are unhoused?
That they are asking for it, when in reality they are just humans facing hardship.

Meet this week's Good Neighbor: Patricia!

Patricia is one of our wonderful AARP volunteers who plays a key role in answering our phones and helping callers understand who to speak with, where to find financial assistance, or what steps to take to receive help.

For many of our clients, Patricia is one of their first interactions with the Christian Service Center. Her positive and encouraging presence helps make that first connection a welcoming one, and we are so grateful for all that she does!
