Putting Resources to Work for Owosso Residents!

Since 2023, 54 homes in the City of Owosso have received assistance totaling $1,438,800 through housing improvement programs. These investments help residents make important repairs, improve energy efficiency, and address safety concerns in their homes.

The improvements have included:
🔨 Roof, window, and siding replacements
🏠 Repairs to porches and decks
♿ Installation of an accessible ramp and more accessible bathrooms
🔥 Replacement of furnaces with high-efficiency models and installation of new water heaters
⚡ Electrical service and panel upgrades
🛠️ Lead removal and home insulation
🚨 Installation of smoke and carbon monoxide detectors
💧 Plumbing repairs to reduce water waste

Looking ahead, an estimated 87 additional homes are expected to receive assistance through 2028, representing approximately $3.75 million in additional funding. We are not currently accepting applications, but will share information as soon as space opens up.

These programs do more than repair homes. They help make homes safer, more accessible, and more energy-efficient while helping residents manage utility costs.

The City has applied for and administered grants through the State of MI Neighborhood Improvement Program, the MI-HOPE Program, and Community Development Block Grant funds to make these home improvements possible. These grants are managed through MSHDA; we would like to thank them for their assistance with navigating these programs.

🍗🍴We are doing Thanksgiving Food Baskets this November. We are grateful for donations from Cakey Cakes & Bagels, Crooked Tree Nursery, and B62 Upholstery towards turkeys for the community.
