🍎 September is Hunger Action Month

Right here in our community, too many of our neighbors struggle to put food on the table, and the numbers tell the story.

In FY26, our Food Pantry:
🍞 Had 35,685 client visits
🏠 Supported 3,239 unique households
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Served 714 households every week
🍽️ Provided 842,201 meals
🥫 Distributed 1,010,641 pounds of food

These numbers are big, but so is the heart of our community. Together, we can make sure no one goes hungry.

Hallie stopped by with 18 homemade meal kit bags packed and decorated by kindergartners as part of a service learning program at their camp.

These little ones read Saturday at the Food Pantry by Diane O'Neill, learned about Friends In Deed, and then got to work, packing meals and adding their own artistic touch to every single bag.

We are so moved by this. Teaching children that they have the power to make a difference in their community is one of the most beautiful things a grown-up can do. 🙏

Thank you, Hallie, and thank you to every tiny hand that helped pack these bags. Our neighbors are so grateful. 💚

The city ran out of motel vouchers for unhoused residents last year and never asked for more.

That's the reality facing Pasadena's most vulnerable neighbors right now. And it's exactly why Rabbi Joshua has been showing up at City Hall, advocating for solutions that already exist: motel rooms that are ready, operators who are willing, and a transitional housing model that works.

We’re happy to partner with the City of Pasadena - Public Agency Rent Stabilization Department for another installment of Chats & Snacks with a Housing Counselor, bringing housing support directly into the community.

Join us for this free, drop-in event where tenants, landlords, and community members can meet one-on-one with RSD Housing Counselors, ask questions about rent stabilization, and get personalized guidance. No appointment needed.

The math isn't working, and Rabbi Joshua said it plainly.

Six proposed affordable housing developments would add about 760 apartments to Pasadena's housing market along the East Colorado corridor. The debate around them is real and complicated. But so is this: more people are falling into homelessness than we can house. That's not opinion. That's what we see every single day.
