On Monday, October 12th, 2020 the Pearland Police Department was recognized by Brazoria County NAACP President Eugene Howard at a press conference held in front of the police station. Mr. Howard applauded Pearland PD’s progressive policing practices, training, and policies, many of which are in line with initiatives being proposed by the NAACP in their "Texas NAACP Change the World-Texas Restorative Criminal Justice Plan in the Aftermath of George Floyd". The press conference was attended by members of the NAACP, Pearland Police officials, members of Mr. George Floyd’s family, and dignitaries.

During the press conference, Chief of Police Johnny Spires stated, "Sir Robert Peel said almost 200 years ago that “the police are the public and the public are the police.” The people grant us the power and authority to protect them from crime and disorder. Which means that power and authority can also be taken away. The foundation of law enforcement is public trust. Trust is built through transparency, communication, and empathy. This is a time we should not shy away from tough conversations about our profession and our relationship with people we protect and serve. We are here today because we have been able to have many conversations and build a relationship with Mr. Eugene Howard and the Brazoria County NAACP. Through hours of meetings, phones calls and texts we were able to find common ground on things we believe are necessary to maintain the public trust here in Pearland. One message I think has been lost the last few months in our country is what will we leave our children? Our children must live in the world we create. We need to project and live the message of unity. I look forward to building upon this foundation and appreciate the acknowledgement here today.”

Examples of initiatives proposed by the NAACP that Pearland PD concurs with can be found here:

Nearly one in eight women will develop breast cancer in their lives. The Pearland Police Department stands proudly with people across the country in recognizing October as Breast Cancer Awareness month. We are honoring our family members, friends, and co-workers who have been afflicted, as well as millions of women across our country, by allowing officers who choose to wear pink patches on their uniforms throughout this and future Octobers until a cure is found. We urge everyone to show their support in their own way, great or small, and join us in the effort to draw attention to this illness until breast cancer is canceled for good.

Update to Missing Person Case # 20-006971

Chelsea Searle (29) was last seen at around 8pm on September 25, 2020. Chelsea was last known to be wearing a white shirt and grey workout pants. Chelsea is 5’2 tall and weighs 125-130 pounds with a medium build, green eyes and black hair. Chelsea is known to leave her home from time to time, yet this is the longest she has been missing. There has been no indication and no evidence that would indicate foul play, yet the Pearland Police Department is concerned for her wellbeing.

Members of Texas Equusearch are assisting Pearland Police Department with a search of the area around Shadow Grove Subdivision. Police Investigators have attempted to obtain footage from home camera systems in the area. If you have a home camera security system, we would ask that you review your footage for potential leads.

⚠️PLEASE, if you encounter flooded roads, TURN AROUND!!⚠️

Significant flood risk continues through Wednesday. Rainfall totals of 5 to 10 inches. localized amounts to 15+ inches have already fallen and additional 5 to 10 inches of rain is still expected today and tonight.

Follow instructions from officials and never attempt to drive or walk over water-covered roadways. You never know what flowing water has done to the pavement; even if you've driven that road a million times.

Floating Ants: High water not only causes problems for our roadways but can also cause issues within our neighborhoods. Some rather large floating ant clusters have been reportedly spotted floating on top of the rising water in local neighborhoods. Just another reason to avoid walking through high water if possible.

Good Morning! I wanted to give a SHOUT OUT to the officers at your agency for operating the traffic lights at Cullen and Hawk in the mornings. This has alleviated traffic immensely and saves us a ton of time in line to get to Dawson High School. Thank you for what you do each and every day! You are appreciated.
Stay safe out there neighbors💚🎃 Beautiful weather out today!!

Will you please advise what happened at the Walgreens close to Dixie Farm Road?
Can you please patrol the Southdown Subdivision at Hawk, Norfolk, & N.Hampton. Cars racing almost everyday. Especially the red mustang. It’s dangerous and I’ve reported it multiple times by phone & website. Trying here now. Hope no one gets seriously hurt or killed by one of these idiots.
Thank you for your service, we are proud of our Pearland Police Dept.
A big thank you from this Pearland resident for our lunch from Whataburger today. I was in line behind a Pearland Police Car at the Whataburger near Main and Broadway today ,just before noon. I pulled up to the payment window and was informed by the cashier that the policeman in front of me had paid for my lunch! I think his car had C415 on the back of it. I know it said Police Interceptor on the back of the trunk. Whoever he was, he sure made this old lady's day! THANK YOU so much.
Does Pearland PD have a program like this?
Thank you
