The Senate voted Friday morning to advance a reconciliation package that would pour nearly $70 billion to immigration enforcement operations. This package is now heading to the House, where the Republican majority is expected to pass it into law.

Take action now! Tell your Representative to vote NO on the ICE First, Families Last Act. Our communities need investments that lower costs and strengthen families- not more funding for detention, deportation, and family separation.

It only takes a minute. ➡️ qr1.be/URMJ

Last week, our President and CEO, Hector Sanchez Barba, had the honor of participating in LALIFF's Radical Storytelling: Reclaiming Mexicanidad panel alongside an inspiring group of artists, filmmakers, and advocates dedicated to elevating authentic Latino voices. 🌟

🇲🇽 The discussion explored how the history of the Mexican American community has been shaped by systemic exclusion and harmful narratives that continue to fuel anti-Mexicanidad and hate today.

❤️ This mission is at the heart of our work. Every day, we strive to serve and empower the Latino community by amplifying our stories, celebrating our contributions, and advocating for a future where Latino voices are recognized as an essential part of the American story. We are grateful to LALIFF and fellow panelists Angelique Cabral, Leopoldo Gout, Paloma Cinco, and Mónica Ramírez for this important conversation.

Gracias Robin Hood foundation, Steven Choi, and Rich Leimsider for creating space for these conversations, and to the many leaders across philanthropy, government, labor, and civic society.

📆 Before 1964, literacy tests and poll taxes were used to block the ballot.

➡️ Today, our voting rights are under attack. The best response is to turn out to vote and exercise our most important right as Americans. 🗳️

Donald Trump's power grab includes an executive order to force the U.S. Postal Service to only deliver mail ballots to people they approve through DHS. This week, the U.S. Postal Service is publishing a proposed rule that is a direct attack on the rights of Americans to vote and that will undermine mail voting ahead of the midterm election. 🗳️

After several days of protests outside ICE's Delaney Hall over inhumane conditions, family visitation was restored at the facility. The unnecessary clashes in NJ last week, though, are the result of an unaccountable ICE. That won't stop Congress from trying to sneak through another $70 billion for immigration enforcement with zero accountability. Call your member of Congress and tell them not a penny more for ICE without guardrails.

In Nevada, we met with Congressman Steven Horsford to discuss the importance of increasing civic participation in our communities, and build power across generations.

From affordability concerns to attacks on immigrant families, we shared why these issues matter to our communities and why Black and Brown solidarity is essential to advancing solutions that work for everyone. ✊🏾
