Earlier this week, we marked the anniversary of Sonia Sotomayor’s historic swearing-in on August 8, 2009.
Today we remember another milestone: Ruth Bader Ginsburg becoming the second woman to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court in on August 10, 1993.
Long before taking her seat on the bench, Ginsburg helped transform the legal landscape for women through a carefully built campaign against s*x discrimination. During her 27 years as a justice, her opinions and dissents continued to shape the national conversation around equality, justice and individual rights.
Her call to “leave tracks” reflected the way she lived: with purpose, persistence and a commitment to making the path wider for those who would follow.
