Remember when a tax on tea kicked off a Revolution?

As we celebrate our nation’s founding this Fourth of July, we are grateful for the democracy founded by our predecessors. Because of them, rather than having to stage a revolution, we just have to vote.

When your Republican representatives raise taxes on you, illegal taxes that harm you and your family, you don’t have to pick up a musket- you just need to pick up a ballot.

Say no to Trump’s tariffs. Say no to the ensuing inflation Trump has caused. Say no to the Republican’s ballooning debt.

Say no to Trump’s yes men.

Say yes to change. Say yes to fiscal accountability. Say yes to real representation. Say yes to the Democratic Party.

It’s difficult for Republicans to run on lowering the deficit in the midterms when they ushered in the largest debt increase in history. It’s impossible for Republicans to run on inflation when rates are soaring along with fuel costs due to unnecessary wars. Alas, the third leg of their platform is gone. They can’t run on family values and protecting children when a vast majority of Americans know they failed to hold pedophiles accountable for their crimes.

What exactly does the GOP stand for, nowadays? What remains of their policies and beliefs? MMA Fighting on the White House lawn and Bitcoin? Is this really where they are?

These volunteer positions give community members the opportunity to share expertise, provide recommendations and help guide important city decisions.

• Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee
• Historic Preservation Commission
• Loss Trust Fund Board
