📢HEADS UP STAUNTON📢

Just a friendly heads up that Gnar Runners is hosting their 6th annual Staunton Rocks! Marathon & Half footrace at Staunton State Park this coming Saturday, August 22nd.

Runners will be on course from 7:00AM - 5:00PM, utilizing most of the park trails (excluding Davis Ponds Trail).

The trails will still be open to visitors, just be aware of the extra foot traffic.

We are proud to present our newest Junior Ranger graduating class!

This trash isn’t just an eyesore, it’s a wildlife issue.

Food scraps, wrappers, and garbage teach bears and other animals that campsites are places to find an easy meal.

Once wildlife becomes food-conditioned, they may lose their natural fear of people, leading to dangerous encounters. Too often, those situations end badly for the animal.

Every camper has a role in protecting the outdoors:

✅ Pack out everything you bring in - including food scraps.
✅ Store food and scented items properly. Each campsite at Staunton has a bear box, use it!
✅ Leave your campsite cleaner than you found it.
✅ Follow Leave No Trace principles every time you head outside.
