Staunton staff, including Ranger Searcy, are hard at work rescuing brookies from downstream and putting them back in the Elk Falls Pond following the Elk Falls Dam Rehabilitation Project. You may want to give the fish time to re-establish themselves before venturing out with your poles, but the view alone is still worth the hike. 🎣🐟🥾

Happy Earth Day! 🌎

Today we’re celebrating the wild residents that call Staunton State Park home. This cutie is a Pacific Marten (but you might call them a Pine Marten). They are part of the weasel family and live in trees. Since they are mostly nocturnal, we were pleasantly surprised to catch a glimpse as they looked for a midday snack!

This Earth Day, take a moment to brush up on Leave No Trace principles to help ensure that wildlife like the Pacific Marten continue to thrive. 🌲🐾

Before heading out, remember:
✅Give wildlife plenty of space
✅Pack it in, pack it out
✅Keep dogs on leash at all times
✅Stay aware of your surroundings
