We are very thankful that all branches and facilities of the Rapides Parish Library survived Hurricane Laura. While some have minor damage and are currently without electricity, we know that many families in our community and in surrounding parishes were not so fortunate. Our hearts are with those who are now working to recover a semblance of normal life. We hope to support these efforts and plan to return to curbside services with WiFi, free printing, and updated resources by Wednesday, September 2nd.

Today marks the 76th anniversary of the D-Day Landings. On this day in 1944, more than 160,000 brave Allied troops landed along a 50-mile stretch of heavily-fortified French coastline to fight Nazi Germany on the beaches of Normandy, France. The events of that day turned the tide of the war and marked the beginning of the end of the German Third Reich. Let us never forget the sacrifice of those brave men who stormed the beaches that day.

Martin Branch

The Martin Branch of the Rapides Parish Library System is a landmark in the Pineville community. In 1950, the children of Mildred B. Martin endowed the library in her honor. Mrs. Martin was the wife of prominent Pineville businessman Roy O. Martin, Sr., and through the continuing generosity of the Martin family, the library has expanded its building and made extensive renovations.

The Martin Branch serves the Pineville community and is easily accessible to Louisiana College, Pineville High School, Pineville Junior High School, and several elementary schools. Located in the older business district of Pineville, the library is also close to Central State Hospital, a mental health facility.

Every summer the library participates in the state-wide Summer Reading Program.
