Southeast Idaho Council of Governments - SICOG

Southeast Idaho Council of Governments - SICOG SICOG’s Community and Economic Development team handles planning, funding, coordination and administration of the public works projects.

Our focus is to offer cost-effective solutions to area-wide problems; provide a forum for locale policy development; assist in community planning, program management and business assistance; and to serve as a coordinating link between the city, county, state, federal, and other area-wide agencies to help make sure the community is adequately represented and protected. How We Can Help Upgrading a failing water system or redeveloping a blighted area of town is a huge undertaking, and most small communities do not have the expertise nor the resources to take it on alone. SICOG’s Community and Economic Development team has the savvy and the experience to handle the planning, coordination and administration of the public works and redevelopment projects that are so critical to thriving communities. We can also help source the funding, working closely with communities to pull together project financing via grants, loans, and bonds and other financing tools. We were happy to be able to assist on this grant for Power County Hospital District! Congrats!

The PCHD Foundation Board of Directors was very excited to receive a $25,000 grant from the Harry W. Morrison Foundation this winter to help purchase NEW hospital beds! The beds arrived last week & are now available for patient use in the hospital. The Foundation matched the grant with $11,000 additional funding that helped to purchase a total of 6 new Hill Rom Centrella beds that replace the 25 year old beds previously being used!

The new beds are a wonderful addition in the newly renovated hospital rooms & come with several features for better patient care & safety that we did not have on the older beds. Weight scales on the beds are helpful for patient monitoring & medication administration; Bed alarms for patient safety alert staff for falls; Patient call system on the beds makes communication easier; & multiple positioning options make care, treatment, & comfort better for patients. The nursing staff & providers are grateful to have these new beds & all the options they provide for patients!

The Foundation is very grateful to SICOG for helping with the grant writing of this project; & to the H.W. Morrison Foundation for this generous donation as well as the contributions of local individuals & businesses to PCHD Foundation fundraising events held each year. The generosity of so many is greatly appreciated that enables the purchase of equipment like this for the hospital & patients in our community.
THANK-YOU to you all!

CEDS Public Comment Period Open

The Southeast Idaho Council of Governments (SICOG) released its Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) report for public comment.
SICOG was awarded a CEDS grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA). A CEDS is a strategy-driven plan for a region to most effectively increase its economic development efforts. The report was created as a result of a public outreach and engagement process that allowed regional stakeholders to provide input into the economic assets, as well as economic liabilities, of the region. The plan is broad based and should serve as a guide for communities to enhance their economic ecosystem and build capacity for the region.
A CEDS is an important economic development tool for the region as beyond setting out a guide for the communities in the region.
The EDA regulations require a thirty (30) day public comment period where the report is available for review by the public who are invited to provide comments regarding the reports contents.
Those interested in reviewing the CEDS report should visit the SICOG’s website at: https://www.sicog.org/cced-home.html to find a downloadable copy.
The public is invited to submit written comments via email at: [email protected]
