35 students from grades 9-11 set out at 7 am to explore DC. We tackled the metro, construction along the DC mall, the sculpture garden of the National Gallery of Art, the wonders of the Natural History Museum, and the beauty of our capital as we trekked across the Potomac to the MLK Monument. Covering at least 5.5 miles, our students gained travel skills and an appreciation for a nice cold drink. It was a wonderful day of learning and adventure! πŸ’™πŸ’›

Pocomoke High School is one of just 16 schools in the Maryland chosen to raise horseshoe crabs! In fact, the only schools beyond Maryland to tackle this project are in Japan. We received eggs and juveniles in September and Angelina Agenor and Dustin Kenlon have carefully managed their feeding schedule and monitored water quality until the release day on May 26th. While we only had 4 to survive the year, we learned so much along the way and are excited to implement new strategies when we receive our next batch in the fall. A huge thank you to Maryland’s DNR and MCBP for supporting this important conservation initiative.

πŸ“š As we wrap up the school year, attendance still matters!

Please note:
πŸ—“οΈ Monday, 6/15 and Tuesday, 6/16 are HALF DAYS, but they count as FULL school days. Students will have exams and/or final projects on these days, so attendance is mandatory.

Did you know? A student is considered chronically absent if they miss 10% or more of the school yearβ€”that’s just 2 days a month. Whether absences are excused or unexcused, they add up quickly and can have a significant impact on learning, relationships, and overall achievement.
